Dos Piezas (Two Pieces) (Flute and Piano)

Dos Piezas (Two Pieces) (Flute and Piano)

Dos Piezas by Esperanza Zubieta

Any work written to be interpreted later, is always born as a provocation from a feeling. A hidden passion later translated into a desire or perhaps, in a present dragged by melancholy.

Recuerdos de viaje (Travel memories), is a tonal work, which can be described as a “Rondo”, as if it were a statement or a story. A prelude, by way of invitation, to simulate a warm, quiet and lonely journey… ending in a coda that transports us to the delirium of starting over again.

“Because often we walk forward, but our thoughts go back to the past.”

Desolación y Fantasía (Desolation and Fantasy), however, proposes a twelve-tone treatment that takes place in a delicate dialogue that unfolds with mysterious and sobbing bitterness. Its binary structure concludes in an explosion of fantasy wrapped in tonal language, impregnated throughout with a latent impressionist charm.
