Sankyo Flutes currently offers 3 different headjoint styles for handmade wood flutes: "Traditional", "Modern", and "Lip Plate".

Traditional: A dark, sweet sound with depth and projection throughout all registers. The Traditional style offers a comfortable amount of resistance and is very colorful, offering an expanded tonal variety.

Modern: Affords a great amount of stability and control with a powerful and refined sound. A very gratifying response and wide dynamic range are characteristic qualities of the Modern style.

Lip Plate: Features a hand-carved raised embouchure plate which facilitates ease of sound production. The Lip Plate style offers a comfortable and familiar feeling, along with a vibrancy and flexibility.
